My artist journey

We just never know who we are going to inspire on our journey, who we are going to touch, who is listening and watching, what others are paying attention to.

To be patient with others is to be kind to others. To be patient with ourselves is to be kind to ourselves. To be patient with our art is to love our art.

For me, making art is a private, introverted, introspective experience… Making crafts, on the other hand, to me is a much more social and extroverted experience.

Crave containers where the sky is the limit and the ground is sturdy beneath your feet.

…it doesn’t matter whether you’ve been making art since you were four or just started four years ago. Your starting point is your starting point.

I make art. Sometimes anyway. Then I make crafts in order to engage. Then I make art to disengage.

It is a celebration of that which binds us and at the same time that which gives us unique cultural experiences. We are all the same species that have adapted behaviors to deal with the complexities and challenges of life.

With everything torrid and vile that has been happening in my country this week, I wanted to take a moment to personally respond and clarify my position.

…by taking stock of what I have, it helps me achieve more of what I want.

Be patient. Good art takes time.

But at the same time, I am not a static being. And my art is not static. And I am continuously growing, and so my art is constantly changing.

…as much as I think commissioned work will help the business, right now it is not good for the artist or the art.
