On Society's Suffering

“There are forces out here that bring suffering to others and misery to the world. But I want to be the opposite force. I want to be the force which is truly for good.” - John Coltrane

It’s November 2020. Election season. We have a chance to rid our country, our society, and the world from this evil-tempered, narcissistic, cruel, privileged yet effectively influential person. I hope we can manage it.

Our society, our people, have been living with so much stress these last 3.5 years since he took office. We are hurting, we are suffering, we are struggling, we are dying.

Art has saved me from the traumas I’ve faced in my personal life. Art has saved me from many of the traumas in society. I think art saved John Coltrane, both personally and socially too.

We need more artists, more art. Not just in our leadership, but in general — to expose people to more beauty, and therefore to goodness — so we all become forces of good in the world.
