On Being the One to Define Myself

I have had several people of late attempt to define my art, what I do, and who I am as an artist for me. Part of this is my fault as I have ruminated aloud about these questions.

Most of the time people are just trying to help. They get excited and want to be a part of my enthusiasm. Every once in a while, the person is not excited for or with me and is instead a controlling-type who wants to take over.

Putting up appropriate boundaries is something I have needed to learn as a person and now as an artist, too. There are so many things I have had to learn on this journey. Not letting other people define my art work or who I am is one of them.
