On Abundance of Ideas
I imagine faster than I can sew.
It might not seem so, but this can be very frustrating! Although I keep a journal and sketchbook of ideas, my hands and current skill level cannot keep up with my imagination. I come up with more project ideas than I can possibly complete! Worse yet, sometimes I outgrow an idea before I have had a chance to even start on it.
I have come to realize that this has to do with my patience (or more accurately, lack thereof) again. I need to feel good not only about the constant flow of ideas coming in, but also about the fact that I may indeed never see those ideas come to fruition. It's OK!
Not all of those ideas have to be turned into tangible creations. Sometimes the inventiveness is a door to another avenue of creation, sometimes bigger or more complex or more interesting. It is the freedom of the creativity, the process of imagination, that is important in the exploration phase.
As long as I am currently working on something, there is no backlog of ideas. Just...potential future projects. And there are more waiting in wings!
